Sunreef launches electric/hybrid 60ft catamaran

Updated: Mar 29, 2020

It looks like Sunreef has launched their first hybrid catamarans. The "electric" 60ft model was presented at the Cannes 2019 boat show.

Unfortunately there is not a lot documentation available on the internet but I will keep monitoring. For sure it's not a Torqeedo system and in a video they mention 140 kw of battery power. I will keep an eye open and share as it's always interesting to find out what others are providing on the "hybrid" market.

Sunreef is a big catamaran production yard and brand from Poland - both sailing & motor catamarans. It's definitely a good sign when traditional boat manufacturers start to offer "electric/hybrid" versions in their sales & charter repertoire. Here is a link to the Sunroof Charter page of the 60 E: https://www.sunreef-charter.com/news-item/275/introducing_eco-electric_sunreef_60_e_to_sunreef_yachts_charter_fleet

Here is some more "reading material" about the sunroof hybrid catamarans: https://blog.sunreef-yachts.com/eco-yacht-owner-insight/

[I am not affiliated to Sunreef but just curious about what's going on in the yachting industry regarding Hybrid Propulsion Systems]

Here is an other article about Sunreef. The idea is to integrate solar cells in different surfaces like the hulls of their catamarans....
